Seven pro-Palestinian protesters arrested at NYC Rockefeller tree lighting

Seven people were taken into custody during the pro-Palestinian Manhattan protest two blocks from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony, police said Thursday.

One of the protesters was charged with felony criminal mischief for knocking a cellphone out of someone’s hand. Five others were charged with obstructing governmental administration. They received desk appearance tickets to appear in court at a later date.

A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody, a juvenile report was prepared and he was released.

The protest included thousands of Palestinian supporters plus a smaller pro-Israeli contingent.

About 500 protestors were left in the crowd when there was a face-off with police near W. 47th St. and 6th Ave., near Fox News headquarters. police said Wednesday night.

Multiple people were pepper sprayed by officers in the ensuing melee, police said.
