Moped driver killed, dragged a half-mile in fatal NYC crash

A moped rider was struck by multiple cars on a Bronx expressway Monday about a half mile from where his body was discovered, police said.

The man was zipping east on the Cross Bronx Expressway in Morris Heights around 9:20 a.m., cops said.

As the victim approached Jerome Ave., three drivers including one behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer hit him, police said.

One of the cars dragged the man about a half-mile off the expressway and onto the next exit ramp at E. 175th St. and Webster Ave., cops said.

A woman driving a black minivan remained on the scene while the tractor-trailer driver and a person behind the wheel of a red sedan took off.

The driver who stayed at the scene did not immediately face any charges, cops said.

When police and medics arrived at the scene, the victim, who police are working to identify, was already dead after suffering severe head and body trauma.

Cops were still investigating what sparked the crash later Monday afternoon.
