Man killed, another wounded in separate NYC shootings

A man was killed and another was wounded in separate shootings in the Bronx Sunday, police said.

In the latest incident, police were called to the corner of E. 174th St. and Morris Ave. in Claremont when shots rang out just after 7:05 p.m., cops said.

When they arrived, a man was lying on the pavement with gunshot wounds to his chest, face and left hand. Medics rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, but he could not be saved. Police were still working to identify the man Sunday night.

About five hours earlier, gunfire erupted inside the 161st Street–Yankee Stadium station, cops said.

A 34-year-old man on an escalator inside the station was shot in the leg just after 2 p.m., they added.

He was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

There were no immediate arrests in either shooting.
