Jealousy motive in Brooklyn woman’s slay, say neighbors

A woman died and her stepson was badly wounded in a shooting in East New York, Brooklyn on Friday evening, police and witnesses said.

One suspect was under arrest in the case, said sources.

Police identified the deceased woman as Rosa Acevedo, who was in her 40s. Acevedo was the wife of shooter Luis Collado, 52, said neighbors.

Collado thought his wife had a lover, said neighbor Victor Cruz, 56.

“He was jealous,” Cruz said. “He said ‘I’m going to kill her, I’m going to murder her, I’m going to shoot her.’”

Other neighbors said Collado also told them about his plans to kill his wife.

A neighbor in the building on Louisiana Ave. between Hegeman Ave. and Williams Ave. said he saw medics take the wounded stepson out of the home.

“I saw them rushing [him] out to the ambulance. He was all blood. His head was wrapped in a towel and he was gushing blood. It was awful,” Kennedy said.

A handgun could be seen resting on the ledge of a courtyard near the scene of the shooting as cops investigated into Friday night.
