3 keys to a Giants upset win over the Dallas Cowboys

3 keys to a Giants upset win over the Dallas Cowboys

SCORE ON DEFENSE

Wink Martindale’s defense has scored one touchdown this season: a 102-yard Jason Pinnock interception return against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5. They’ll need to get in the AT&T Stadium end zone at least once on Sunday to give Brian Daboll’s Giants a chance to even keep this game within two scores, let alone have a chance to win it. Middle linebacker Bobby Okereke has emerged as their top playmaker and leader. Look for him to make that play.

SCORE ON SPECIAL TEAMS

If there is a game for Thomas McGaughey to run a fake with punter Jamie Gillan, it’s this one. Cowboys special teams coordinator John “Bones” Fassel is a tough, unpredictable and creative opponent. But the Giants might succeed by giving him a taste of his own medicine. They need any edge they can get given the offense they’re putting on the field.

MAX OUT ON EFFORT

Xavier McKinney’s criticism of the coaching staff didn’t receive support from his teammates, but it’s hard to blame a player for being frustrated with this horrendous season. Daboll’s ship is rocking in choppy waters and in jeopardy of tipping over. As the lopsided and embarrassing losses continue to pile up, there is only so much players can give before the dam may break.
